Lisa A. Cohen

Lisa is the CEO and Principal of Capital Motion, a boutique consulting firm advising executives and boards seeking to achieve growth and other strategically significant milestones. Clients include charitable nonprofits, mission-driven organizations and other selected private businesses where our approach has significant positive impact. Services include strategic & business planning and implementation, board development & governance and mission-aligned investing consulting.

Lisa is a successful serial entrepreneur, having launched two firms prior to Capital Motion that served the private sector, one of those a leading advisory, research, analytics and strategy firm active in the asset management/impact investing space. That firm was an early signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment.

Lisa has served in executive leadership positions in both the private and nonprofit sectors. Lisa was a Managing Director and Senior Vice President at Evergreen Investments, a Director at John Hancock, and a Director at the Girl Scouts, running lines of business that resulted in significant asset/money raises at each organization.  Lisa is a graduate of Smith College and has completed Harvard’s Executive Education program in Investment Decisions and Behavioral Finance.

Lisa is a member of the Boston Club, currently serving on the Nonprofit Board and Marketing Committees. Her board work also includes serving as past president of both the Boston Smith College Club and Boston Women Communicators, as a founding board member of the historic Dwight-Derby House Board of Directors, as a member of the Advisory Board of Wellesley Investment Partners, and as a member of her community’s Historical Commission.
